Hurst Plastics has made an ambitious step forward with a training programme, which almost every single member of staff will benefit from.
Many Hurst employees from various departments, including production, sales, accounts and administration, have already started an intensive NVQ level 2 in business improvement techniques.
The formal qualification for staff underlines the company’s wholehearted commitment to continually improve its service to customers and invest in staff, despite operating in an uncertain climate.
Mark Atkinson, sales director of Hurst, says: “We are very excited to have embarked on the training programme which aims to improve customer service and product quality, whist maximising efficiency. The new, focused programme has helped us to develop an ongoing continuous improvement culture at all levels of our business and has motivated staff who are not only up-skilled with a formal qualification, but perhaps more importantly, given evidence that they have long term job security.
“Since embarking on the training, we have seen many improvements within the business, which include more “right first time” activity, better quality, reduced lead times, increased on time delivery, less downtime and less waste., “ he adds.
The next few months will see Hurst further improve its infrastructure, with significant investments made into plant and machinery. The aim of the strategic investment is to further improve Hurst’s product quality and efficiency and help the company to diversify and bring fresh, new products to market.
